Lately

Guess what! I got a job! I am now working in a law firm in downtown Salt Lake and I couldn't be happier. I was originally only supposed to temp for a week, but it turned into a permanent thing! The people that I work with are amazing, and I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity.

Hubby and I also were able to fly home for the fourth to spend time with my family in Lake Arrowhead. We enjoyed lots of food, wake boarding, and fireworks. The weather could not have been better! I miss my family already, but I am so thankful we were able to get away for a few days.

Hubby and I also  decided to train for a half marathon with one of our good friends. It's September 11th in Spanish Fork. Wish us luck! Lets hope I make it!

Champs

Dear Lakers,

Thank you for winning. I would have never been able to live it down if you lost. Hubby loves your enemy. So thanks.

What we've been up to

We are finally home in our new place! After we graduated, Hubby and I drove home with his family to Missouri ( ~18 hour trip mind you). We had fun celebrating his birthday (25th) and enjoying the yummy spring weather. After a week, I went home to California to be with my family. I had lots of fun those two weeks attending two amazinggggg weddings, getting mani/pedis, going to the beach often ( I'm now an acceptable shade for my liking), shopping with mom ( thank you!) hanging out with grammy, talking to my brother on his mission, enjoying my first mother's day home in four years, eating a ton, and spending wonderful days and nights with my family. They really are the best. After two weeks, both Hubby and I flew home to Salt Lake to spend time together before I left on my girls trip to North Carolina. Hubby has already started his Masters at the U, and is really enjoying his classes. In North Carolina I had an amazing time with two of my very best friends ( one of which is my cousin). We ate some great southern food like fried pickles, chicken and dumplings, and some not so good food like shrimp and grits. We had a "baby shower"for our friend Jessie who is 5 months pregnant. Lex and I had lots of fun sewing baby gifts for Jessie's little girl. We also went strawberry picking, saw the documentary, Babies, ate the best ice cream ever, went to a drive-thru farm where we fed zebras, giraffes, pigs, lamas, and were attacked my emus. We drove to Charleston, SC, where we ate more good food, went on a ghost tour, caught a picture of a ghost on Jessie's phone ( good job Jess!), explored Boone Hall plantation, and finally returned home.
I am now back at home with Hubby, which I am so grateful for after being away for so long. He's just getting through classes while I do my best to find a job in this city. If any of you who read this know anyone who is hiring, let me know; I'd appreciate it!! Wish us luck on this new chapter.

Our new flat

So we finally found a new place to live! We are soooo excited. Hubby does not like moving from one place to another because of the change, but I love it because I get to organize! However, I hate, hate, hate the looking process. It is so stressful. But thankfully we have found a place that will be an adventure for us. It is in a big old house in Salt Lake that was split  up into 4 separate apartments. Ours is in the front of the house on the second floor. It's happy, open, and has lots of light.  We've never lived so deeply in a large city like Salt Lake, but it will be a fun adventure that we are excited to experience together.

As a side note: my sister in law commented below that the city I'm from in CA is probably bigger than Salt Lake. This is likely true :). I know I've lived in a large city, but not any city that has huge/tall buildings like Salt Lake does.I can't think of the right word that would describe the difference between where I grew up and Salt Lake ( because I don't think where I grew up is considered a suburb necessarily). So if anyone can think of one to help me fill in my blank spot, that would be appreciated!

Dumpster Diving

So last night I went dumpter diving. Why, you ask. For fun of course. No for real though, my husband and I had borrowed two DVD's from a friend, and we were heading out to walk down to her house to give them back. As we were walking out, we decided we might as well take out the trash. I had a milk carton and cereal box in one hand, and the movies in the other. After dumping out the trash, Hubby and I started our walk to our friend's house. I realized shortly after that we had forgotten the movies. We ran in the house and looked everywhere, but we couldn't find them. I then realized that it was a possibility that I threw them away. So I grabbed some running pants to put over the ones I was wearing, just in case I had to dive, and we walked out to the dumpter. Hubby spotted the first movie after leaning over the side of the dumpter and moving a box out of the way. He was ready to jump in, but I told him it wouldn't be fair since I was the one that threw them in in the first place. So, he helped me into the dumpster where I spent about 5 min or more fishing through all of our free flowing gross trash, other's gross trash, and diapers. Yes, yes, there were diapers EVERYWHERE! Where we live, almost all of our neighbors have babies, so there were plenty of free hanging diapers for me to step on a push to the side. Eventually, I found the other movie and then proceeded to scrub myself down mercilessly in the shower. I still want to barf thinking about it. It was funny though :). Have any of you had to dumpter dive? What's your story, or am I alone in this feat?

Attack of the flakes

Dear winter storm,

Though you look quite lovely, you are driving me nuts!

Your soft flakes have apparently suffocated the satellite dish in the complex, which is consequently depriving me of watching a new episode of Bones.

So if you don't mind, I'd appreciate you leaving again so the sun can come out like it was just hours ago.

Thanks.

Love,

Me

p.s. yes that picture is an exaggeration; but this is how it feels

Going Red

So we found out yesterday that Hubby got into the U to do a Public Health Masters. Yeah for hubby!! I know we are kinda traitors, considering we'll both be alumni of BYU who are crossing over to the other side, but we couldn't be more excited and thankful!

Just because he loves me

So I just got home from work and class, and to my surprise I see a vase with my favorite flowers and a note, right on the table in the living room. Today is not my birthday, valentines day, easter, half birthday, christmas, etc, but hubby left me flowers. I could not be more lucky to have him.

V- Day and a long time away

Sorry I have been for soooo long. Life has been very busy, but great! To tell you the truth, I've also really had nothing to write about. What have I missed? Well, we went to Missouri to hubby's parents house for 2 weeks. It was great till we both got sick the 3rd day there. Unfortunately we were sick the entire 2 weeks-- all through Christmas, my birthday, New Years, the first week of school... yep, all of it. It was still great to be with his family though. This school semester has been hard-- not necessarily because of a terribly heavy work load, but because we both finish in April and I cannot be more excited. I'm so tired I can barely stand it! Maybe it's because we watch Seinfield for too long while brushing our teeth but regardless, I need a break.

Our Valentines day was amazing! Hubby had hinted that he had gotten me something that I'd love, so naturally I asked to get it before Valentines Day. I couldn't wait! I love surprises. But then I told him to keep whatever it was till the real holiday, but he surprised me early anyway!! I love him! It was this beautiful heart shaped necklace from Wilsons Diamonds ( anyone who's thinking of getting engaged in Provo should totally go there; it's a great place with wonderful things and great prices-we also go our rings there)Anyways, I was so ecstatic because I have been wanting one for so long. He's the best.

Our school semester is almost over; there's still 2 and a half more months left but it's been going by surprisingly quick. We are anxiously trucking through the rest of our schooling, but are enjoying it nonetheless. Have a great day!
